POSITION SUMMARY

The Trainer is responsible for delivery and assessment of the company’s mandatory induction and update training sessions. Active Assistance’s training is delivered in line with organisational values and requirements as per sector standards.This role will cover training at our Westcliff on Sea and Braintree office so you will need to be a driver and have access to your own car.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver mandatory and specialist training content independently and with other trainers/ clinical team as required

Occasional travel to deliver training at other locations across the country if necessary

Train and assess Personal Care Assistants/other in practical aspects of the PA role including safer people handling, emergency 1st aid, medication/ other

Work with the training team to ensure assessment of Personal Care Assistants encourages success, is based on fair decision making and assures the employment of a quality workforce

Deliver additional one to one and group sessions as needed to meet learner need

Work with the training team to develop and update training resources in line with best practice

Preparation and management of the learning environment/ resources to maximize the learner experience

Communicate feedback to trainees and record evidence of trainee development on PA feedback forms and using the company’s internal electronic recording systems

Ensure all mandatory training paperwork (including employment documentation, right to work checks) are correct and queries communicated to other departments as required

Update own knowledge & skills by undertaking continuing professional development (CPD) as agreed with line manager (to include peer observation in the training room and working on packages of care with clients to maintain currency of knowledge and skills)

Attend and contribute to Team Meetings and other meetings as required

Inform the Training Manager/ other of any issues that are likely to adversely impact quality of client care and/or health and safety of employees

Tasks and projects as determined by Training Manager/ Assistant Training Manager and within the scope of the role

SPECIFIC SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential:

Previous experience in the health and social care sector

Confidence when working within a team as well as self-motivated to work independently with minimal supervision

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Adaptable and flexible approach to tasks

Computer literate

Preferred:

Previous experience of working with clients with neurological conditions e.g SCI/MS

Full UK driving licence and use of their own car would be beneficial

Previous experience of recruitment; right to work documentation; passport and VISA checks

Training qualification i.e. Teaching & Assessing award, Mentorship award, Moving and Handling Trainer and/or Assessor
